3.5* review ... warts and all ...
I don't typically read novellas, but when I sign up for giveaways, I only discriminate based off of the cover and the snippet. Despite my reluctance at undertaking a novella, I found The Devil in Snakeskins to be a fast read (finished it in just over an hour and a half). And even though I'll admit the story itself rightfully concluded after nigh north of a hundred pages, I found there to be a true potential in the setting. Post-apocalyptic America and wild-west. The two rarely find themselves together; as such, I found the pairing refreshing. [edit: Mr. Henion, if you ever write a full length novel delving into this post-ap society, let me know so I can get more of my want for post-ap-wild-west.]
If I had but one complaint, it was of the prevalence of sex. I don't avoid books with sexual themes, but by the same token, I'm not looking to read literotica. 3.5/5
I received this book for free through Goodreads first reads.
